This is how we work

First-class assistance – expertise and experience

Our clients expect legal advisors capable of providing first-class legal advice that combines professional expertise, industry experience and commercial understanding. We meet those demands by ensuring that our lawyers possess not only professional expertise within one or more practice areas, but also a commercial understanding of the client’s industry sector. Many of our lawyers also have extensive international experience.

Wikborg Rein operates on equal profit sharing between its partners, which means that every matter can be freely allocated to the lawyer best qualified on the specific area and is handled as expeditiously as possible.

To ensure that our clients consistently receive first class legal advice, we always stay abreast of legal developments within each practice area and commercial trends in the various industries. We also recognise the importance of a good work environment, teamwork and sharing of knowledge in producing the best possible work for our clients. When it comes to cooperating with foreign law firms, Wikborg Rein is not restricted by cooperation agreements and will select amongst a range of vetted firms the one most appropriate for the matter at hand.

Individuals and teams

When required, we will put together a team of lawyers with the optimal combination of experience and expertise to handle the matter at hand. Our clients will nevertheless always deal with one main contact person which has overall responsibility and will ensure that the client receives any specialised assistance required in each case.

Client Care Letters

According to the Norwegian Bar Association's decision, we often confirm the larger assignments with a description of the matter. The description contains information about the lawyers involved, hourly rates, possible disbursements, expected progress, right to lodge complaints and time frame for completion of the assignment.

Fees and disbursements (hourly rates)

Wikborg Rein complies with the fee policy document prepared by the Norwegian Bar Association. Fees are usually based on the time expended, the size of the assignment, the degree of difficulty, the significance of outcome, the parties involved, and whether or not specialised expertise is required – but always based on the principle that the invoice will be reasonable under the circumstances. Our hourly rates (excluding VAT) are determined by the level of experience of the lawyers handling the matter. For information about our hourly rates, please contact one of our offices.

Disbursements such as travelling expenses, court costs and other public charges are invoiced for reimbursement in full.

International assignments may be priced differently in accordance with the relevant assignment.

Complaints etc.

Lawyers acting in breach of the regulations for legal practitioners or who demand unreasonable fees may be reported to the Norwegian Bar Association’s disciplinary body if the lawyer and client are unable to resolve the matter amicably.
