Due to increasing business relating to the Singapore area Wikborg Rein decided to establish an office in Singapore in 2000. Our Singapore office thus followed the expansion of our clients’ business into the rest of Asia.

Today the Singapore office has approximately 20 lawyers qualified in Norwegian, English, Singaporean and/or US law. The principal practice areas in Singapore are shipping, ship finance, litigation/dispute resolution, corporate, tax and legal services to the offshore industry. With practical experience and a good network in many of the countries in the region, the Singapore office advises on the structuring and planning of investments including advice on local investment restrictions and possibilities, cross border tax planning and in particular the application of relevant Norwegian and Singaporean tax treaties. In addition, our lawyers work on international transactions and projects related to renewable energy. Our lawyers are active members and contributors to the local business association, and have frequent contact with the local authorities.

Pan Asia Wikborg Rein LLC (“PA-WR”) is a Singapore law practice registered as a law corporation in Singapore in formal law alliance with the Singapore branch of Wikborg Rein. It is solely a Singapore law practice and is not a branch or subsidiary of Wikborg Rein or Wikborg, Rein & Co (Singapore). The formal law alliance between the Singapore branch of Wikborg Rein and PA-WR became effective on 1 May 2008 by the approval of the Attorney-General under Singapore’s Legal Profession Act. Since then the alliance has assisted clients in cross-border transactions involving particularly Norwegian and/or English law and Singapore law - a genuine “one-stop shop”.

In 2011 Wikborg Rein became the first Norwegian law firm to win Lloyd’s List Asia award as “Maritime law firm of the Year”. Wikborg Rein won the award due to its unique first class shipping and offshore presence through its offices in Singapore, Shanghai and Kobe for almost 50 years.
