Litigation and Dispute Resolution

The members of our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group are involved both with the representation of litigants in court proceedings and arbitration and, as appointed arbitrators, in the adjudication of disputes. The Group is also actively engaged in alternative dispute resolution methods, such as negotiations and mediation.

The Group’s litigation assignments vary in size and complexity. They cover the full spectrum of legal issues and most business areas, such as taxation, employment, tort, contract (including a wide range of contract disputes in the real-estate, offshore and shipping industries), corporate law and securities (including valuations for share redemptions and liability for misrepresentations or omissions in securities prospectuses), anti trust and white collar crime.

The firm has extensive litigation experience before the Supreme Court of Norway, with almost 20 of the firm’s lawyers being qualified as Supreme Court Attorneys.

The Group is also a forerunner in the field of alternative dispute resolution in Norway. In 2003, Wikborg Rein published the highly acclaimed book “The Lawyer as Negotiator in Civil Disputes and Commercial Relations”. Several of the firm’s attorneys have studied negotiation/mediation at some of the leading universities in the US, including Harvard Law School.

In 2005, the firm published the book “Alternative Dispute Resolutions” – which was first of its kind in Norway.
