US extends sanctions on Somalia for 1 year

On 10 April 2019, President Trump extended the US sanctions relating to Somalia for 1 year.

The sanctions regime consists of i) an asset freeze on persons determined to have engaged in acts that directly or indirectly threaten the peace, security, or stability of Somalia, as set out in Executive Order 13536, and ii) an import ban on charcoal from Somalia, as set out in Executive Order 13620

The US national emergency with respect to Somalia was first declared in 2010.
