Senior Lawyer and Chief Representative, Shanghai
Therese Trulsen started as an associate in Wikborg Rein in 2017. Today she works as a Senior Lawyer and Chief Representative at our Shanghai office.
– This journey has been fast! I was a trainee at the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai from 2013 to 2014 and attended an incredibly inspiring presentation by Wikborg Rein. When a position opened up, I had to apply, even though I did not fulfil all the criteria. I called and said I did not have a practicing certificate, but that I had good grades, was used to working independently and was looking for a challenge.
– The opportunity to work at one of the firm's international offices has inspired me ever since I was a student. We work internationally from our offices in Norway too, but in Shanghai, we come extra close to the Norwegian business industry with global ambitions and Chinese companies looking towards the Nordic countries.
During her studies, Therese specialised on maritime law, before starting to work more with private equity.
– Today my work includes a little bit of everything. As head of the corporate department, I assist clients across industries – from Norwegian industry giants to entrepreneur companies, med tech companies and suppliers of infection control equipment. Another case I have worked a lot with was Elkem's acquisition of Polysil here in China, which is probably the largest Norwegian acquisition in China ever. It was a long process that took several years to complete. An incredibly cool project to be a part of!
Therese's work days are varied, and no days are the same:
– There is a lot of team work and active and effective advising – I don't think I have read a judgment in three years. The days are otherwise characterised by a good work culture, with a balance between flexibility and responsibility.
