We are delighted to invite you to the first webinar in our Shipping Offshore webinar series. Throughout the next months, we will be holding live webinars from Oslo, Bergen/Stavanger, London and Shanghai/Singapore covering current topics related to the shipping and offshore industries.

The first webinar will be held on 23. September 2020 and focus on structuring of offshore wind farms, charters for vessels in the industry, and the established industry perspective.

Ketil Arvesen from Fred. Olsen Windcarrier AS will give an introduction to the topic by sharing his view from the perspective of an established industry player. Our lawyers Andreas Fjærvoll-Larsen and Birgitte Karlsen will thereafter discuss offshore wind charters and the structuring of offshore wind farms. Head of Shipping Offshore practice, Gaute Gjelsten from Wikborg Rein, will moderate the webinar.

At the end of each webinar we will have a live Q&A where you get to discuss relevant topics with all the speakers.

About the speakers

Gaute Gjelsten is head of the firm's Energy Shipping Offshore Group. Gaute specialises in international shipping and offshore law, including maritime, energy, insurance and conflict of laws, and has extensive litigation experience.

Andreas Fjærvoll-Larsen is a Partner at Wikborg Rein's Oslo office where he is heading the department for shipping- and offshore projects. Andreas has a broad international transaction practice focused on strategic advice and implementation of investments, joint ventures, bank-, bond- and project financings and restructurings within the maritime industries. He regularly assists Norwegian and international clients with negotiations of agreements for construction and conversion, sale and purchase, chartering, management and operation of ships, offshore units and ocean infrastructure. Andreas is dual qualified as a Norwegian Lawyer and a Solicitor of England & Wales.

Birgitte Karlsen is a Partner at Wikborg Rein's Oslo office and is part of the firm's Energy practice. Birgitte works within oilservice and renewables, with a special focus on offshore wind. She assist clients with the structuring and planning of energy projects, general risk analysis and contract negotiations, as well as related project financing (including Norwegian bond loans) in Norway and abroad. Birgitte has previously worked at our offices in London and Singapore and as inhouse counsel in Aker Solutions.

Ketil Arvesen is Vice president of Fred. Olsen Ocean A/S, the holding company of the offshore wind activities in the Fred. Olsen Group. He has been involved in the offshore wind industry since 2008 and was instrumental in placing the yard contract for the first two large installation ships owned by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier, building 7 CTVs and initiating the service company Global Wind Service (GWS). Ketil has early stage experience from the US market, negotiating the contract to construct the first US Offshore Wind farm, Block Island.
