Andreas Fjærvoll-Larsen: New Partner in Oslo
With comprehensive experience from international shipping/offshore transactions and an extensive international network, Andreas Fjærvoll-Larsen is ready to take on the role as Partner in Wikborg Rein from 1 January 2020.
Andreas is a perfect fit to the partnership, having worked for six years in the London-office and led the shipping/offshore transactions team in Oslo for three years.
- I have worked for Wikborg Rein my entire career and am pleased to have reached my goal of becoming Partner. My ambitions going forward are to maintain the strong position Wikborg Rein has within transactions in the shipping/offshore segment. It is a dynamic industry where it is important to follow the trends and the transactions done, says Andreas.
Wikborg Rein's Managing Partner, Finn Bjørnstad, is very satisfied with Andreas' appointment.
- I have worked with Andreas for many years, both in London and Oslo, and am very proud to now have him as a Partner. Andreas is a commercially minded lawyer with a good understanding of all complicated matters that our clients face in their operations and financing. I am certain that Andreas in the years to come will become one of the leading shipping/offshore lawyers in Norway in his generation, and that he will be highly appreciated by our clients, says Finn.
Wikborg Rein works on projects within the shipping and offshore sector, both in Norway and internationally. Andreas regularly assists Norwegian and international clients with transactions, projects and investments related to construction/conversion, financing, sale/purchase/chartering, management and operation of ships, rigs, floating production units, offshore wind installation vessels and other units.
- We are very pleased to strengthen our global shipping/offshore team with Andreas as a new Partner. Andreas is an excellent lawyer and has been a key advisor on a number of major international projects during recent years. After returning from London a couple of years ago, he became the head of the team for shipping/offshore transactions in Oslo, and in that role he has been essential in the development of our strategy in relation to "green shipping". Our clients are very happy with Andreas and his expertise will be important to both new and existing clients, says Gaute Gjelsten, head of the company's field of shipping/offshore.
Andreas focuses on transactions in the intersection between industry and finance, and has thorough knowledge of both the commercial and legal aspects of a shipping/offshore project. He has an international practice and co-operates closely with the firm's teams working with M&A, finance, capital markets, restructuring and general contract law. There is an ongoing trend of transactions in the shipping/offshore segment becoming larger and more complex – requiring knowledge and co-operation between different disciplines and offices to deliver first class service to our clients, says Andreas.
In recent years new segments have emerged and there has been other changes within the shipping/offshore industry, and Andreas believes that the development of the industry will be high on the agenda both nationally and internationally also in the years to come.
- The green shift demands an eco-optimisation of the world fleet and implies an increase in transportation of environmentally friendly energy carriers such as LNG. The development of floating wind and other utilization of the ocean space also leads to an increase and diversification in the services rendered offshore. These are rewarding projects that I look forward to working even more with going forward, says Andreas.
