The sanctions are implemented through Executive Order 13664. They impose asset freezes and travel bans on those who have been determined to be responsible for actions or policies that, inter alia, threaten the peace, security, or stability of South Sudan; undermine democratic processes in South Sudan; obstruct reconciliation in South Sudan; or commission acts of violence against civilians. The content of the sanctions regime has, however, not changed.
