Børre Gunnerud is a Specialist Counsel at Wikborg Rein's Oslo office and is part of the firm's Petroleum and Renewable Energy practice. Gunnerud main areas of expertise is petroleum law, environmental law, general contract law, general administrative law, and mining law. His work is mainly related to the petroleum industry, inter alia, mergers and acquisitions, joint operating agreements, service contracts, license transfers, and dispute resolution. He also regularly advises on issues pertaining to environmental law, including environmental due diligence, pollution liability and public permits and licences. He has long experience with mining law, and has assisted with restructuring, financing and sales and acquisition of mining assets, and with the mining and environmental regulatory framework. Gunnerud frequently assists clients with general contract law, including contract drafting, contract review and assessment.
Gunnerud has experience from the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, section for petroleum law. In the Ministry, he, inter alia, worked with auditing and follow-up of concession documents, amending legislation, concession awards and environmental impact assessment requirements. Gunnerud has worked as an advisor for the Cambodian government under a NORAD financed development project. In this capacity he spent long periods in Cambodia, being responsible for legal advice on development of petroleum legislation, capacity building and project coordination. He also has experience as a Police Prosecutor.
Gunnerud holds an LLM in European law from Ruprecht-Karl Universität, Heidelberg.
