Maritime Trainee Program (Norwegian Shipowner Association) – For associates

A Maritime Trainee is an associate (advokatfullmektig) position in WR's Shipping/Offshore department. He/she will at the same time take part in the Maritime Trainee graduate program run by the Norwegian Shipowners' Association.

The Maritime Trainee program lasts for 18 months and combines working as an associate with an academic program with modules in Norway, Singapore and London:

  • Kick-off: The Norwegian Shipowners' Association, Oslo
    Module 1: The Oslo region
    • Introduction to the maritime industry and teambuilding (sailing trip)
  • Module 2: Bergen/Ålesund
    • Maritime history, ship finance, the transformation of the industry and digitalization in practice
  • Module 3: Singapore
    • The maritime industry in Asia, technological development, digitalization and global logistics
  • Module 4: Oslo
    • Maritime law, negotiation techniques and digitalization
  • Module 5: London
    • International regulations and London as an international maritime centre
  • Diploma ceremony and Alumni dinner, Oslo

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • Norwegian Master of Laws (Master i rettsvitenskap)
  • Fluent in Norwegian and English
  • Strong academic record
  • Enthusiasm and a keen interest in the maritime industry
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • No more than 12 months' work experience
