Gaute Gjelsten er partner ved Wikborg Reins Oslo-kontor og er global leder av firmaets fagområde for Shipping Offshore. Gjelsten spesialiserer seg innen offshore, internasjonal sjørett og sjøforsikring hvor han bistår norske og internasjonale klienter, særlig assurandører og redere. Han drev Wikborg Reins kontor i Kobe, Japan i tre år. I perioden i Japan opptrådte han også som norsk generalkonsul for Kobe/Osaka. Han er også med i Wikborg Reins Emergency Response Team. Gjelsten er anerkjent av Chambers and Partners som "Leaders in their field" i kategorien Shipping: Litigation og Legal 500 innen kategoriene Maritime Law (inkludert forsikring).
