Marie co-heads Wikborg Rein's dispute resolution practice and specialises in commercial arbitration and cross-border disputes. Marie has extensive experience with litigation before the ordinary courts, as well as ad hoc and institutional arbitration (ICC, SCC, OCC, DIA, FAI, and Swiss Arbitration Centre), acting as both counsel and arbitrator. In 2021, she was admitted to the Supreme Court of Norway. Marie's work has covered a wide range of industries and issues, but her practice focuses particularly on shipping, energy and natural resource disputes. She also advises on private international law, and has litigated some of the most important jurisdiction and choice of law disputes before Norwegian courts, including the Supreme Court. Marie holds a PhD in private international law and has several publications within this field of law, as well as within arbitration. In addition to her work at Wikborg Rein, she teaches at the University of Oslo and holds several board positions. She is also a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. For the past four years, Marie has been ranked as one of the up-and coming dispute resolution lawyers in Norway in Finansavisen's annual survey, and she topped the ranking in 2022 and 2024. She is also ranked as a Next Generation Partner in Legal500.
