Marie co-heads Wikborg Rein's dispute resolution practice. She works primarily within litigation and arbitration, with a particular focus on cross border disputes. Marie has extensive experience with litigation before the ordinary courts, as well national and international arbitration (ICC, SCC, OCC, DIA, Swiss Arbitration Centre and ad hoc), acting as both counsel and arbitrator. In 2021, she was admitted to the Supreme Court of Norway. Marie's work has covered a wide range of industries and issues. Her practice is focused on cross border disputes within the shipping and energy sectors, and she regularly acts as counsel for ship owners, energy companies (renewables and oil and gas) and oilfield service contractors. She has also litigated some of the most important jurisdiction and choice of law disputes before Norwegian courts, including the Supreme Court. Marie holds a PhD in private international law and has several publications within this field of law, as well as within arbitration. In addition to her work at Wikborg Rein, she teaches at the University of Oslo (private international law and civil procedure for master students) and holds several board positions. For the past four years she has been ranked as one of the up-and coming dispute resolution lawyers in Norway in Finansavisen's annual survey (top ranked in 2022 and 2024).
