EU renews its Russia sectoral sanctions

20.12.2018

On 21 December 2018, the EU decided to extend its Russia-related sectoral sanctions and export controls for another six months, until 31 July 2019.

The extension is due to what the EU sees as Russia's failure to implement the Minsk agreements aiming to alleviate relations involving Russia, Ukraine and separatist factions.

The EU sanctions against Russia have been extended every 6 months since they were adopted in July 2014 following Russia's annexation of the Crimea region.
